Very popular and native to Papua New Guinea, mushroom plant is a fast growing bushy herb that has a pleasant taste like mushrooms, especially when cooked. Very popular incorporated into pasta sauces or soups and stir fries, or used raw on sandwiches or in salads. The plant is very attractive with glossy deep green leaves and bright blue flowers, it grows about 24" tall and spreads to make a dense clump. Very nutritious it is rich in calcium,iron, protein, beta carotene, chlorophyll and vitamins A and C. From the tropics it is sensitive to frost and should be grown in a greenhouse or a container so it cam be brought indoors during the winter. Hardy zones 9-10.
